BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION ADHESIVES & SEALANTS PRODUCT OFFERING
Cardolite offers a broad portfolio of products for building and construction epoxy and polyurethane adhesives and sealants. Formulators looking for solvent-free and waterborne solutions with long-lasting performance, broad application conditions, and easy handling can benefit from our offering. Very fast bond strength development even below zero degree celsius and under water, excellent chemical resistance and corrosion protection in immersed and atmospheric exposed surfaces, adhesion to unprepared substrates, and high mechanical strength and glass transition temperature are some of the advantages provided by Cardolite products for building and construction adhesives.
PERFORMANCE IN EPOXY SYSTEMS
HIGH PERFORMANCE WITH LIGHT COLOR CURING AGENTS
Cardolite offers solvent-free, light color epoxy hardeners with excellent reactivity, bond strength and mechanical strengths. Some of the products highlighted in the table below are designed to provide very high Tg (LITE 2401 and UL 2009 HSF) while others deliver very fast unclamping times (GX-6027 and UL 2009 HSF). If very low viscosity is required for a certain application, LITE 2401 is a good selection. In the case very light color with good UV resistance is desirable, the Ultra LITE Series curing agents, UL 2009 and UL 2009HSF, are the preferred choices. These materials are suitable for electrical pottings, epoxy pottings, flooring applications, grouts, and composites amongst other end-uses.
FAST BONDING IN EXTREME CONDITIONS
Cardolite phenalkamines exhibit fast cure and bond strength development even at low temperatures (zero degree celsius and below) and under water. Moreover, they provide excellent adhesion to wet and unprepared substrates, including oil contaminated surfaces. Their ability to crosslink at low temperatures and in the presence of water allow for wider adhesive application window and quicker return to service for field-applied adhesives including underwater application.
Our waterborne phenalkamine, NX-8101, is a very good option for tile grouts due to their good compression strength and fast hardness development with extended working time.
HIGH STRENGTH AND GLASS TRANSITION TEMPERATURE ADHESIVES
Recently developed phenalkamines and phenalkamides offer high Tg and outstanding mechanical strengths that are necessary to support heavy duty adhesives. The high performance comes along with favorable viscosity (no solvent) and fast strength development at room temperature and low temperature. Solvent free and low viscosity phenalkamides also offer faster cure than polyamides with higher strengths and longer pot life. These two chemistries offer formulators a broad range of properties and performance.
PERFORMANCE IN POLYURETHANE SYSTEMS
ADHESIVES AND SEALANTS WITH BETTER PROTECTION AND DURABILITY
In addition to curing agents, Cardolite also offers polyol resins for use in polyurethane adhesives and sealants that require excellent resistance to various chemicals and water/moisture due to their application and service environments. Constant exposure to moisture can create corrosion and physical deterioration of materials and adhesives. The hydrophobicity and aromaticity of CNSL-based products results in adhesives with extended service life and lower risks of failure.
Furthermore, CNSL based diols can be used as binders or in NCO terminated prepolymers to provide excellent hydrolytic stability after exposure to water and acid and alkaline solutions. Their good compatibility with other diols such polyethers and polybutadiene allows formulators to design blends that meet different performance requirements.
